Zhejiang Jinju’s Controllable Heat-transfer Shift Reactor Project Achieves Successful Maiden Commissioning

Estimated read time 1 min read

Zhejiang Jinju Chemical Co., Ltd. has completed the optimized revamp of the tertiary shift reactor under its energy-saving and carbon-reduction technical transformation project for the ammonia synthesis plant. The plant uses coal as feedstock and adopts pressurized coal-water slurry gasification. The shift section employs an adiabatic plus isothermal process. The shift unit operates at 6.3 MPaG, with a design effective gas throughput (CO+H2) of 80,719 Nm3/h. The terminal isothermal shift reactor, originally supplied by another vendor, has been retrofitted to Nanjing Dunxian’s DX-V controllable heat-transfer shift reactor. The reactor nominal diameter is DN3400, with a design pressure drop ≤30kPa, and the design dry-basis CO content at the reactor outlet ≤0.72%.

Catalyst loading commenced on July 23, 2026 and was finished within 10 hours. The unit achieved successful maiden commissioning on August 27, 2026. Actual operating data shows the dry-basis CO concentration at the shift reactor outlet is 0.527%, and the reactor pressure drop stands at ~19kPa. All other operating indicators outperform the design specifications.
