A cushion compact's working fill must be established with the selected reservoir, sponge and formula. The empty reservoir volume, the mass introduced during filling and the amount later transferred to a puff describe different things. A catalog capacity cannot establish all three.
Define the assembly and the fill measurement
Identify the reservoir and sponge versions, the sponge's initial condition and the intended loading method. In a conventional sponge cushion, formula is held within the sponge inside the reservoir. Do not assume a separate feed chamber, inlet or distribution channel unless the actual design has one.

For a mass-based trial, record the empty assembly mass and weigh the same assembly after loading, before adding unrelated parts. The difference describes the added mass under that method. Use a defined weighing stage and account for spills or material left on filling equipment; nominal reservoir milliliters are not interchangeable with formula grams.
Allow loading to settle before comparing samples
Use the same loading procedure, waiting period and storage orientation when comparing candidate fill levels. Observe whether formula is distributed across the sponge, remains pooled on the surface or transfers to the inner closure. These observations help assess the proposed loading process; they do not identify a cause by themselves.
Sponge structure, compression and formula behavior interact. A denser sponge does not automatically release less product, and an open-looking structure does not automatically dispense more. Compare the actual combinations rather than assigning a dosing result from appearance or a single viscosity value.
Check release through a defined application routine
Use the intended puff and a consistent pressing and application routine. Review the pickup across the sponge surface, pooling after pressing and changes as the pack is used. Keep fill mass and application results in separate records: a pack can contain the intended amount while giving uneven pickup.
Evaluate closure and storage on representative filled samples as well. An acceptable first application does not establish leakage resistance or shelf life. Agree the conditions and acceptance criteria with the formula, filling and packaging teams, then identify the configuration used for the decision.
